Its not a complicated combo of words, very simple, easy, to say, write, acknowledge that you made a geniuine effort to provide them with the information they needed from you in a timely manner. But it seems in these days, of texting, emailing, shortcuts, that those 2 little words have been DELETED from the English language.

I'm Canadian so I've been known to thank bank machines.

thanks for letting me vent, I was raised in the south, where regardless of how much of a feminist you might be, your date better damn well open that door for you....and you better say thank you-!!!

You know, I don't miss "thank you" nearly as much as I miss "excuse me."

I miss people RSVPing before the day of an event.

please is another word that went into some black hole....and you are welcome....what happened? can I blame video games, or Fox News?

I've found myself using "no problem" where nature intends a "you're welcome"...I blame children. All of them.

Students almost never say thank you for anything. Drives me up the wall. Not all of them, of course, but many of them are the biggest entitled jerks.

I must live in a bubble, because I hear "please," "thank you," and "excuse me" all the time. I can't assume it's regional, because it's been the case everywhere I've lived. Maybe it's my really tall husband who seems to intimidate people by smiling at them. (it's a weird phenomenon - he's remarkably gentle, but scares people anyway.)

The only exception to the politeness are shoppers at Trader Joe's and the small-town tourists who have been told everyone is rude here, so they act pushy, thinking they're blending in.
