Why IS it, though, that these guys - both parties, the Democrats are only slightly less susceptible to it - only sound like this, like populist, pro-consumer barn-burners, after they've announced they'll not run again? This fiscal situation is the single largest threat to Americans - indeed, to America itself - in many a year...and yet our elected representatives treat it as if it's yet another political football to be tossed around for partisan gain.
