They told us our daughter was a boy 2 times! The 20 week ultra, again 6 weeks later, and then finally, 2 weeks before my due date they said, "Are you ready for your little girl?" I thought the tech had just made a slip, but then she looked…
Congrats papaPost! Either way!
El D 'presented' frequently during ultrasounds so it was no mystery...but because we knew there was a small % that even all the 'presenting' could be wrong we went color neutral and picked out both…
I had the same indecision when Ebay was predicted as "probably a girl" at 17 weeks. The tech wouldn't say with certainty becasue there hadn't been a clear shot, but she said that a penis would've been evident at some point…
I suppose it does depend on the ultrasound machine and the experience of the technician. They really shouldn't be looking for neither penis nor labia--they should be able to see either!
We had an ultrasound around 12 weeks that screened for…
My doctor got it wrong with Max. The ultrasound machine was crap and it was fairly early (about 17 weeks). She said she was 80% sure which was weird. I think she was going on not seeing a penis and not the presence of labia. We had another…
They're pretty darn accurate.
Despite my fervent wishes that they were wrong about my baby being a girl, they were right...now I wouldn't trade her for anything!
CONGRATS!
We've had two ultrasounds: the regular diagnostic one at 20 weeks and the spiffy 4D one at 26 weeks. Both technicians had no doubt that it was a girl. They did see the girl "bits" which were described as three lines for the labia. We…
I've heard of gender mix ups sort of recently, but for the most part gender determination by ultrasound is very accurate (just like the ultrasound technician said, 99%). For girls the labia are visible by ultrasound, so it's not the…
When I was pregnant with my daughter, they told us the same thing. Her legs were crossed, they spent forever trying to get her to move. The final word was 90% she would be a girl because, "If there were anything there she couldn't close…
Girl or boy: congrats on the baby-to-be and welcome! :)
(We also did everything gender neutral, so it wouldn't have mattered. And I knew from the very beginning in my heart of hearts that he was a boy, so the ultrasound just confirmed my…

Hola! NICU workers are my heros. My little terror was a 27-weeker, spent 7 1/2 weeks in a level 4, then 1 1/2 weeks in a step-down nursery. The nurses and doctors kept us sane and taught me that my little meatloaf was not going to break when I touched her. I don't know you, but thank you for helping all the families just like mine in Philly. (see some pics of her in my album)
