I've got one kid, one spouse, two dogs, and a cat. I moved across the country to a state I don't really understand but for a job I really love. I make art. I have a PhD in horribleness.
What's something about your kid(s) that makes you happy?
He's super sweet, funny, silly, loves to read.
What's your most recent kid-related public humiliation?
He announced at his martial arts class to everyone that he had had beer.
What about contemporary parenting culture pisses you off the most?
The way parents of a certain affluence spend all their time carping at each other for their choices instead of noticing the horrible lack of cultural support for parenting we have in the U.S.
Who were you BEFORE you became a parent?
A miserable grad student.
What are you nerdy about?
The history of theme parks, the Wizard of Oz, anything performance related, semiotics, lots of stuff.

No, I never unfriended you. I don't pay much attention to the OS "friending" thing and I probably just never got around to friending you in the first place.

I appreciate the concern and good intentions. I got what you were trying to say in the discussion and I tried to support you. But it's really not possible to fully empathize when I'm so raw from being in the midst of all this shit with The Boy and his school. I can't remember the last time I cried so much. I'm confused and extremely oversensitive right now. And I'm about done being the bigger person, except I have to keep being the bigger person or my son is screwed. No energy left for Internet misunderstandings. None.

You wrote some things that I didn't really need to read this particular week, but this isn't about you. I know you better and beyond that one OS discussion, and I realize you're in the midst of your own highly stressful situation right now, too. No hard feelings toward you personally. I hope things get better for both of us soon.
