yelling

Bad mommy moment this morning when I released the yelling.  Not just a "STOP IT!",  but rather a  "STOP IT!"  It's a rare occurrence, but something in me dies when I do it. Apologies immediately after and seemingly accepted. Imagining the damage done puts me in a downward spiral, even though I try to not beat myself up about it. Any good/bad parenting moments to share?See More

Mama's got homework

I'm doing it- going back to school!  Part time, going for a M.Ed to teach Bio.  Taking advantage of my tuition waiver employee benefit, so that's a huge driving factor. Anywho- my main question was to any other middle/high school teachers out there.  What pros/cons do you see in each age population?  I have my own ideas and inclination, but I'd love to get more feedback, especially since I have a 5 yo and the other age groups are not on my radar much. See More

"Bribery?  When you have your shoes, coat and backpack on, you can have a gummi bear.  When all your buckles are done up in the car, you can have a tic tac.  Something like that?  My kid is weirdly in love with tic tac candy."

Getting out the door

Dang- it's been dead around here.  How' bout I bitch about how hard it's becoming to get us out the door on time for school/work ?  I tried talking with him to come up with solutions, but he's taken to using my words against me.  "Well, I'm going to make it hard for us to get out the door this morning- nahnah!" My one big trigger is being late.  He knows it.  I try to take my sail out of his wind and not take the bait, but some times it pushes me to tears.  He seems happy about that.  I mainly…See More
