I saw them during college (don't want to admit how many years ago) and have always wanted to go again.  A traveling show is going to be quite near our home and I think the 4.5 yo would love it.  It…Continue

"Having adopted from foster care myself, I would be required by law to call CPS in that situation.  So, I definitely agree with everyone on that.  It may or may not be productive but at least you've done everything you can at that…"

"I've seen CPS reports result in safety plans in similar situations.  SIL should be consulting her divorce attorney, though, not you.  You can make the report if you see fit, and certainly call the police if BIL drives drunk around…"

"Yes. Driving drunk with a small child requires nuclear action."

"At this point, child protective services likely need to be involved. If SIL didn't attempt to stop BIL from leaving with the child when he was impaired, she's not safe with either parent without intervention. "

Keeping niece safe

I think I have posted about issues re: my hubby's brother/wife/kid.  They've been separated for at least 1.5 yrs, and BIL just moved out of the parent's house into his own apartment.  He has a long history of anxiety, alcohol abuse (very well managed/hidden) and depression (just started a new med). We had plans to have BIL and our niece visit this weekend, but he called and canceled, feigning illness and sounding very slurred.  This morning I got a FB message from ex-SIL saying she was upset…See More

"We bought a house based on where we wanted to send the bub to school, so this was my life last year. We knew what general area we wanted to buy in, but school districts are eensy-weensy here so I had a choice of four different school districts that…"
