About Me:
Lesbian parenting is just like straight parenting, but with more PMS and fewer legal rights. Mombian brings you news and opinions about LGBT parenting and related LGBT politics and culture. Why would I have a kid in some states and not others? Which TV shows tackle LGBT parenting in a positive or realistic light? And what's up with all the gay penguins and lesbian swans?

From the "not that those of us here needed proof, but it's good to have" files, a new study from the University of Virginia has found that the adoptive children of same-sex parents were on average "developing in typical ways."

"We found that children adopted by lesbian and gay couples are thriving," said U.Va. psychology professor Charlotte J. Patterson, who led the study. Her research used standard… Continue

"Paramour" is one of those words--like "gout"--that one doesn't expect to hear outside of historical romance novels. Yet a Tennessee court of appeals last week struck down a ruling that used the state’s so-called “paramour clause” to prohibit Angel Chandler’s same-sex partner of over 10 years from spending the night when Chandler’s two children from a…

The… Continue
