- I call myself a writer, but that's strictly in the most literal, unpublished, Peggy-Hill's-"Musings" sense. Only with more cowbell. I write TykeGeist here on Offsprung, plus my famous original personal blog Floor Pie. Oh, and a preschool newsletter. Move over, Dorothy Parker.
I live in Seattle with Mr. Black, my partner in overeducated pop culture geekery and political hand-wringing. We have two kids who never cease to exhaust and amaze us. The Boy is 6, Little Girl is 4.
- What's something about your kid(s) that makes you happy?
- Everything. Cue the "Very Special Sitcom" meta-music.
- What's your most recent kid-related public humiliation?
- "Mommy, your mole is getting bigger every day!"
- What about contemporary parenting culture pisses you off the most?
- The so-called "Mommy Wars." Don't get me started.
- Who were you BEFORE you became a parent?
- Pretty much the same, only with cleaner clothes.
- What are you nerdy about?
- I have a Simpsons quote or analogy for nearly any situation.
