I'm a (VERY) soon to be Mom to a little girl. My husband and I are looking for an "alternative" approach to parenting. I have an educational (and personal) background in social work, psychology, gender studies, LGBTQ studies, feminism and sociology. He has a background primarily in the hard sciences. We're 24 and 25 years old. He will be a second time parent, he's got a son from a previous relationship who's almost 4, this is my first (and will be my only) child. We're mostly looking into attachment parenting, but on a "less-severe" level. :D
What's something about your kid(s) that makes you happy?
I don't have my own child yet, but I love to see my step-son with a big grin on his face. I love the imagination that children have!!
What's your most recent kid-related public humiliation?
None yet, haha!
What about contemporary parenting culture pisses you off the most?
Instigation of the gender-binary. Also, parents who use violence and fear based discipline.
Who were you BEFORE you became a parent?
A wild child! :)
What are you nerdy about?
All things sci-fi. :) Tattoos/piercings, crazy art and the paranormal.
Favorite music/books/TV/movies:
STAR WARS! - the list of books would take far too long, and the music too. The Mountain Goats and Modest Mouse are my favorite bands though.
