Well, I know why, but I'm still seething with unadulterated rage.

It was. I read about it in a few places on the interwebs a few weeks ago. CNN had it up online. I don't watch TV news, so I can't attest to it being on CNN broadcast.
That's my point....a few places. Had it been involving any other group (Xtian fundies saying equivalently offensive things outside a major metropolitan mosque, or a white power march, or anti-war protestors, or pro-jihadist rally), it would have been inescapable.
I didn't see it anywhere, but I don't browse the news online very often. I saw it through a link a FB friend put up. This is getting shuffled into the 'boys will be boys' category and it will never see the light of day again.
Because we still live in a culture that says rape is acceptable.
Yeah, there's been lots of discussion I've seen. Not that I disagree with Wookie. Even more so: we live in a culture where rape isn't just acceptable, but funny!
This is the first I've heard of it, but I don't really follow the news all that much. I think it's deplorable that they would do that.

And yes, these are the "elite", the "best and brightest", and the "future leaders". Pretty sad and disturbing, isn't it?
