Even though pop culture and anecdotal evidence would have me believe otherwise, I'm stubbornly clinging to my belief that hetero men are attracted to smart women. I'll bet some of them are even attracted to smart women who don't meet the mainstream beauty standard. And are older than them. And have better careers.

Am I right?  Or am I living in a land of make believe with flowers and bells and leprechauns and magic frogs with funny hats?

Van Halen does.

Online comic readers?

Tina Fey's popularity?
I think that men who haven't either succumbed to or been victimized by standards of masculinity like women who are smart and outside of the beauty norm.

I'm glad I'm raising a girlchild.
Loki does. And not just become I'm fabulously smart (heh), but his most significant ex is one of the smartest women I've met. Very artistic and attractive in a not-very-mainstream way.
Anecdotally, all of my male friends are. Of course, if they didn't approve of women with an IQ above that of the stove to which they must be slaved, they wouldn't be my friends. Ignoring my complaint about my own husband earlier, I happen to know that I originally caught his eye by driving a Jeep, browsing a catelog of computer components, and wearing an Einstein t-shirt. And while he can out-rocket science me any day, I'm his go-to girl for all things bio. Go ahead and draw big, dorky hearts above our heads when I'm not ready to kill him.
I don't know about that...all genders have their pitfalls.

Dude, I love smart women! I don't get guys that try to have serious relationships with air heads. That's fun for a couple of days, but damn, some you have to be able to talk about something other than TV.

Aren't almost all women smarter than the men they're with?
Nope. You can be at the top of your field and they'll still want to photograph you with your ass sticking out or doing a fake lesbian schtick for a domain name site. Don't be smart or talented, it's just about tits and ass now.

Say "hey" to the leprechauns for me!
True, but I've negotiated the female side of things for 30+ years. Were I male, I'd probably be thankful to raise a boy.

My male friends all have smart wives. I think that smart men will be attracted to smart women, or at least want to marry one, even if they might date less than smart ones at one point or another. Just like smart women would want a smart man for a husband or long term boyfriend.
My love for smart women is all-encompassing and is completely fulfilled by the beautiful and brainy Oracle.

I'm tempted to try and sign in as Sailor to answer this for him since he's on an underway. :)

Before Sailor I didn't date a whole lot but this one guy was not the brightest bulb in the box by a mile and it was such a painful relationship. It involved trying to have semi intelligent conversations and being blown away by his stupidity time and time again.

It's a two way street, I need a smart man and the one I found happens to like smart women. Could you imagine living for 50+ years with someone who didn't read! (I'm sure the ex knew how but he didn't like to and so that killed half the topics we could talk about and his love of Metallica killed the other half)
