Ducky is 18 months old and still nursing maybe 3-4 times a day - first thing in the morning, last thing at night, usually before nap, and maybe once if he gets hurt or something. I need to be done for several different reasons, not least so I can go back on Vicodin and actually manage my life productively.

I weaned the Dragon abruptly at 27 months because I had to go on antibiotics - but I'd like to do it a *little* more gradually this time. I'm just feeling at a loss as to how to go about it. Help!

I *just* finished weaning the achiever at 2.75 years.  We were down to a quick 5 minute nurse before bed, so I had BigKrygowski step in and take over that part of the bedtime routine.  The boy has been fine for the last month, but this past week has been asking repeatedly to nurse.  I am assuming part of it is all these big changes that he's made in the last few weeks, including deciding he's done with diapers.  Oh, and the impending big brotherhood.

I did it gradually starting at 18 months, eliminating the middle of the night one, then the others until we were just down to the bedtime one.  That one was the hardest, the best I could do was get it down to a very short time period.
