An irreverent, inclusive, alternative parenting community

So, earlier tonight on the OS chat, I see folks were discussing why the heck there is so much damn Pie on this site (I missed the conversation). I know we talked about our screen names not too long ago on the old site (which, I believe, is when "The Oracle" was born), but since we're here now and there are lots of new folks, how 'bout we all recap why we chose our particular names. That includes you newbies. :)

My pie comes from my boys. We call them cutie pie and sweetie pie, pie 1 and pie 2, p1 and p2, etc. When I joined OS it was what came to mind and viola! Piebrothersmomma (aka PBM) was born. A while ago I decided to put actual pie on my avatar, just for fun.

I have an affinity for making footwear out of brown paper lunch sacks. This goes all the way back to my own childhood. And since this here is a parenting site, I thought it was fitting.

You can read the entire story of the very first pair of paper bag shoes here.
I'm a Taoist with Buddhist leanings.
I'm a Mom.
Voila.
Wookies are my totem animal, both in personality and in hairstyle.
I'm an astrologer, but oracles (like, say, The Oracle at Delphi) get a lot more respect these days than astrologers. Plus, whereas oracles really can see into the future, astrologers cannot, despite their popular image.

So I'm really just playing on a false assumption about my profession for my own personal benefit, while simultaneously misleading the Internet masses into believing I'm better at my job than I am, which may or may not get me kicked out of my professional association.

Plus, enough already with screen names for astrologers like "Stargazer," "Nightsky" and "Moonchild."
Mine's pretty self evident. I'm Tommy's Mommy. But I don't think I'll be lengthening the name once the second one arrives! I may have to make some modifications though.
Mine is my initials. I'm real creative that way.
I blame my parents for my screen name.
Mommy Monster - the game I play when I chase my kids around the house, all of us laughing and shrieking, with me holding my arms up like some crazy, middle aged Frankesntein shouting 'Moooommy Moooonster!"
Mine is my initials combined with my husband's last initial. In real life I kept my name when we got married. For OS I thought I'd be cute and add the K. I couldn't think of anything more original.
Cute MM! We have the Tickle Monster and the Kissy Monster at our house!

My name is simply my name.
mighty - partial quote from The Tick. It's one of his catchphrases, and since AlphaGeek and I typically communicate with quotes from random TV shows and movies, we've used it a lot.

ninja - because of my 'ninja-like' reflexes during an extended throwing phase my first child went through. AG made the ninja comment after watching me catch a Duplo with my knees. Also he says my ninja toolbelt should include wet wipes, a spatula, and the vacuum cleaner hose. For the record, I do not practice any kind of martial art. I am a klutz.

I think the 'mom' part is pretty self explanatory and says as much about me as the other two words.

I came up with AlphaGeek's nickname ages ago when I still posted on the UserFriendly.org. It is because he is the alpha geek in the house with his computer expertise. Not that he posts much...ever, but one of these days he might get sucked back in.
