What are you all up to this summer?

I'm more excited about summer this year than I've been years. Maybe ever. I guess it's because the Dragon's in regular school now, not year-round daycare, so this year summer actually means something different than the normal routine.

I enrolled him in a few nature and zoo camps -- just 2-3 days each, 3-4 hours per day, so not too intense. I found out our new hometown has a bunch of "spraygrounds" so we don't have to shell out money for running through the sprinkler. Whew. I'm also just looking forward to exploring all the parks and trails and taking ferry boat rides and stuff.

And for those inevitable rainy days, we bought a $25 summer pass for all-you-can-bowl (kids' lanes -- with bumpers -- so much fun) and we're also hatching plans to paint murals over the dreadful paneling in our basement. The Dragon has also stated his intent to build a robot that will fly him to school. I'm really looking forward to not having to drive him every day in the fall.

As I continue to slowly wean Ducky, I'm planning to increase my intake of margaritas. AND I'm hoping to get together with some of you folks in person! Maybe we should do an OS barbecue somewhere around the dog days.

I don't know when I'm going to find time to work!

Umm well I'm getting married this Saturday to kick off my summer. Then two weeks later we're moving from the 'burbs to inside the city.

Before the boy returns to school we'll likely take a trip or two to SeaWorld, go to New Braunfels and hit the river, and possibly head to DFW.
Wanna go tubin'? Or drinkin'? Looks like we'll be in the Hill Country at some point, probably *fingers crossed* moving there in July. I can't seem to move into or out of Texas in any month other than the summer ones.

There's going to be an OS BBQ? Where? My husband has 400k frequent flyer miles from this year I need to burn!
Can I come?
I'll bring the baked beans and chocolate chip cookies! just tell me where and when.
Yay! Yay! Offsprung wedding! Can't wait to see pictures.

My sister's getting married that day, too. I'll raise a glass southeasternish to you guys.

Well, dang, it was just an offhand comment but now I'm ready to make promises and stuff. I'm thinking some Saturday or Sunday in August in the august city of Tacoma. Plan for it, people. We have margaritas and bouncy houses. That's not dangerous, right?

Congratulations Kiwi!! Definitely we want to see pictures.

We're booked pretty much all summer. Right now, I'm supposed to be on break, but I'm taking 3 summer classes toward the PhD that I really don't know why I thought it would be a good idea to do. I've got 3 weeks left of classes and way too much stuff to get done during that time. We've also got Mr. S's mom coming to stay with us for a few weeks, beginning this weekend, then next weekend we'll be descended upon by all sorts of family for A's 5th birthday, then the weekend after that, I'm done with classes and we're going camping (and leaving Mr. S's mom with some other relatives just north of Detroit for that weekend).

Then, as soon as we get back, I begin teaching summer school and, on the same day, my sister will be bringing her kids up so they can spend a couple of weeks with us (she's flying up from OKC and going back the same day--she'll pick them up from our mom in late July). Holiday weekend in July, Mr. S's mom leaves and my dad gets here for the long weekend, then the next weekend my mom comes back to pick up V's kids, then the next weekend we head to Mom's. Then 3 more weeks of teaching and as soon as that's done in August we have my family reunion in WV and possibly a few days at a beach somewhere relatively nearby to there or maybe NYC--we haven't decided yet. And then we come home and school starts back up for fall. I think by that point, I'll need a vacation from summer vacation.
Is it OK if I go to The Oracle's sister's wedding but celebrate Kiwi & Whackbar's wedding? Trying to multitask here...

We are taking the crazy on the road! My mom is out visiting until Mojo finishes school (on the 21st WTF?) and then we are driving out to Illinois. From there we are headed to Albuquerque for a couple weeks to spend the 4th with family. Then it's back to Illinois for another four weeks and then home.

Sailor should get back in August sometime and I get to attend a birth around that time.

Until school lets out Mom and I are cleaning house, moving the boys into their own rooms, and decorating. Basically making the house into a home. It's been this temporary residence for almost two years now. Being so unsettled isn't very healthy IMO so we have finally committed to living in this house like we mean it.

Edit- I forgot all the beach/pool time I hope to cram in between layers of paint. And this summer I'll be attending my 10 year high school reunion.
I'll be in LA in August. Is that near Tacoma? :)
