What are you all up to this summer?

I'm more excited about summer this year than I've been years. Maybe ever. I guess it's because the Dragon's in regular school now, not year-round daycare, so this year summer actually means something different than the normal routine.

I enrolled him in a few nature and zoo camps -- just 2-3 days each, 3-4 hours per day, so not too intense. I found out our new hometown has a bunch of "spraygrounds" so we don't have to shell out money for running through the sprinkler. Whew. I'm also just looking forward to exploring all the parks and trails and taking ferry boat rides and stuff.

And for those inevitable rainy days, we bought a $25 summer pass for all-you-can-bowl (kids' lanes -- with bumpers -- so much fun) and we're also hatching plans to paint murals over the dreadful paneling in our basement. The Dragon has also stated his intent to build a robot that will fly him to school. I'm really looking forward to not having to drive him every day in the fall.

As I continue to slowly wean Ducky, I'm planning to increase my intake of margaritas. AND I'm hoping to get together with some of you folks in person! Maybe we should do an OS barbecue somewhere around the dog days.

I don't know when I'm going to find time to work!

Yay. I live close enough to Tacoma. And we will be around in August.

Well, dang, it was just an offhand comment but now I'm ready to make promises and stuff. I'm thinking some Saturday or Sunday in August in the august city of Tacoma. Plan for it, people. We have margaritas and bouncy houses. That's not dangerous, right?

There's going to be an OS BBQ? Where? My husband has 400k frequent flyer miles from this year I need to burn!
Aww. The Stitchy crew will come visit you on our trip if that will help.

Wooo! We're there! The little man loves a bouncy house!

If it's later in the month (not the 7th/8th) we would probably be able to swing a Canadian contingent. I've been meaning to hit the outlets on the north side of Seattle and I *finally* got a passport for Herself.

Pretty much. The Army guy in charge wants him, and has instructed the hiring folks to hire him. They've worked together before, but this would be on a larger scale. They're having a meeting tomorrow to decide which position to give him - there are a handful that are all basically the same thing.
