small announcement.
hey, everybody. i've been away from the internets because the baby! got born. 8 pounds, 12 oz, by c-section after a long day of useless contractions. my planned midwifey granola birth experience turned out to be a cosmic joke--there was meconium, and everything got very medical pretty early on--but we're all healthy and home and fine. breastfeeding has been challenging, but other than that we're managing quite well.
and he's *beautiful.*
i know i haven't been around here long, but everyone was so kind during the pregnancy; i wanted you to know that he finally showed up. huzzah!

Congrats! I also had a semi-granola birth turn out differently than planned, but I'm glad everyone is home now! Feel free to ask any questions you have--this group has always been very honest about the work that infants are and I have also appreciated that.
