It's been awhile since we had a thread where we just posted random thoughts, hasn't it?
1. I just met Sockiboo in LA at a conference. Couple of things, her paper was really good and my friend and I spent 30 minutes talking about it and other issues it brings up. Also, am mega-jealous of how she looks 5 weeks post baby. Baby was not there. Sad.
2. I am disturbed that Eminem song about tying a woman to a bed and burning the house down if she leaves him is on the Offsprung music thing at the bottom of the page I just discovered.
3. I had a great time, but am super glad to be home.

My random thought is that I'm an idiot for letting my heart get broken yet again.
Oh no! What happened??
The man I've been seeing is considering calling off his separation/divorce because of his kids. They're predictably having a hard time with the process and now he's starting to think he should stay "for the kids." Funny considering the thread above on this very topic.
Ruth, I'm sorry. :(
Well shit, ruth....that sucks.
Oh, hon. I'm sorry. That's totally crappy.

My random thought is that panic attacks are rotten. Running at top speed to good music for a mile or two, however, is a great way to get out of a panic attack. Hurts the next day, though.

oh man kommish, panic attacks do suck mightily.
My random thought is that I wish we'd never introduced the Dragon to (a) sugar (b) TV. I feel shredded by his addictions some days.

Also, I was informed at (UU) church this morning by Margaret Starbird that Michelangelo painted God mooning the pope on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, but nobody ever knew it until recently because we didn't have zoom lenses for cameras. I don't know if it's true, but I'm choosing to believe it.

Also, ruth, when is the universe going to give you a break? Jesus.
I am so sorry to hear this Ruth. It's not good for you, him or the kids.

I'm really sorry, Ruth. Big Hugs for you from all your friends!

My random thought it that it's finally nice to feel like an adult.

It's so... (I'd use the word "immasculating" if we were talking gender but I'm talking generational, so "inagelating"?) demeaning to have your whole family live with your parents year after year. This weekend, after weeks of planning, researching, talking, number-crunching, and window/internet shopping, we finally traded in Suby, who was on her last legs, and got Hubby a new car. Well, a one year old Mazda that was a rental for 24K miles, but it's still the current model year. We set limits to our borrowing level and our monthly payment amount, and went to the dealer ready to haggle. We did a great job, if I do say so myself, and we got the car for almost $3,000 less than the sticker price. Really took advantage of poor sales. Not only did we end up financing less than our set limit, but our monthly payments are a good amount less than that limit as well. We also got reassurance that despite having a lot of debt, we've been handling it really well for many years and as a result our credit score is enviable. This gives us both a big boost that when we earn enough income, we will be able to get a nice starter house for ourselves.

For the record, we only live with my parents because rents around here are NYC-level. One bedrooms run about 2 grand a month.
My comments are OS-related for the evening:

1) I'm sorry, Ruth! I saw all the comments on FB and wasn't sure of the cause, but feared the worst. Sorry it was this.

2) The Oracle would love, love, love the house we are staying in this week (It belongs to a 70ish couple from church). A gorgeous butterfly garden with all perennial wildflowers, piles of books on everything but lots of UU-type things like religious humanism, decades of community involvement documented, and pictures of travels around the world. I am enjoying our stay here, but I know there are people who would love the stories the house tells even more. We are trying not to snoop, but it is also a fantastic experience to soak in someone else's life this way. And my favorite part of this visit was actually my son's disappointment when he learned the couple themselves wasn't going to be here--I love that he enjoys a couple with this much character.

3) Those of you with color and design confidence make me jealous. I've been stressing about colors and such for the new kitchen.
Daria, I just pored over pictures online and made collages until I could discern a pattern to what I liked and went that direction. :)
