PETA will target children so they will "join its campaign"

If I were leaving that McDonalds and they started to harass my child I would probably pepper spray them.

I don't think I'd be as kind as pepper spraying. But I have a pretty hair trigger when it comes to people being complete asshats to my kids.
Yuck. I'm not a fan of McDonald's, but I'd hate to be walking by with my kids and see something like that. Reminds me of the bloody-fetus people who used to protest outside our local Planned Parenthood in Philly.
I wondered about putting it here in the first place but I wasn't sure if it fell under politicking.

Maybe this could go in political.
I'm thinking if my kids opened up that little "unhappy meal", they probably would shy away from PETA for a very, very long time. Perhaps PETA should reconsider their methods for "targeting children to join their campaign."
Any organization, whether or not I agree with their philosophy, who tries to sway my child's opinion by horrifying them will have to deal with a seriously unhappy redneck. Truly, nothing brings out my hick mama hen like things of this sort. Normally, I would write something off as tacky or ill-advised or offensive, but in this particular case, I'm not really sure my reaction would be entirely rational.
I'll do a LOT more than pepper spray. Thankfully, I'm in Texas, I'd probably get away with it. :)
Is it wrong that I kind of want one of these?

Also, what ever happened to the cute little cartoon stickers they used to give to kids? Maybe I'm kind of intimidating to the 19 year olds that usually staff the PETA tables, but they always ask my permission before giving anything to The Boy*. I think I'd pepper spray anyone who tried handing him something damaging like this too.

*we aren't vegan, but we eat vegetarian about every other day and some of those days end up being vegan. I stop by the PETA table at street fairs for swag sometimes. The pamphlets are fun to leave in weird places, like my parent's coffee table.
I can't get the link to work on my ridiculously old work computer, but is there a mention about why parents are allowing strangers to hand small boxes to their kids in the first place?
The "I am not a nugget" stickers, with the little cartoon chick on them were kinda cute. But they reminded me of that fast food commercial that had guys in shirts and ties attempting to find the nuggets on a chicken, with indignant chicken squawking in the background.

Seems like these packets would get them a lot of mileage with teenagers - there's something very Hot Topic about them. But a knife-wielding Ronald McDonald is a bit much for a kid. Stick with some happy positive messages about how we like animals to live well. Those cartoon stickers jenra mentioned sound a lot better.
