NutureShock Book Discussion

I was talking to a few people how I would love to discuss the book NutureShock more. And I happen to think that you all would be excellent people to discuss it with, so with Alan and Kathy's blessing, a book discussion is on! I haven't actually finished the book yet, so I am counting on all of you to help me finish it. I haven't liked every chapter, but I've found most thought-provoking, so worthy of more discussion.

In googling a bit about the book tonight, I see that a few other blogs have done the same thing, but we're us and different, so we'll bring our own perspectives and I think it will be good!

Anyway, I propose starting August 1st with the Introduction and Chapter 1. That gives about 10 days to buy or borrow the book. I'll post a new discussion for each chapter every Monday following. The authors have posted lots of articles on-line, so where I can, I'll link for those who aren't able to buy the book.

In fact, here is Chapter 1 in article form, but no discussing until August 1!!

Shoot, I guess that means I better crack the book. ;) A chapter a week I can handle, I think. Where will the discussions be?

I put it in the Media section. It's a slower section, so the extra traffic (or no extra traffic depending on how we take to this) will be good for it. :-)

NutureShock Chapter 3 will be open for discussion tomorrow. It's a good chapter and one we've talked about before, but worthy of more discussion. Here's a link to the Newsweek version of the article.
