Alright kids.  it's time again for the annual New Year Roll Call.  At least, i think it's annual.  i recall doing this before a few times.

I'm especially looking at you lurkers.  O_O  tell us a little about yourself and your family.  For us seasoned veterans, let's refresh my memory 'cause it sucks.  Tell us how old the kid/kiddos are now.  What are the kids into?  What is your latest thing?  Any big changes coming your way this year?  Or if you prefer, tell us something else.

I'm just trying to get this board a little more active.  Since so many of us are friends on FB, I feel like OS has gotten a little slow.  I miss it here.  I check in all the time, but I don't comment enough.  I'll work on that.

So, I'll start.  I'm mom to 2 boys.  The Dictator, who will be 7 in a few days; and RoRo who is 2 and some change.  The Dictator is really into Doctor Who right now (and yeah, so am I), puzzles, and activity books.  RoRo is all about books, his new play kitchen, and music.  specifically, theme songs to Doctor Who, and whatever Star Trek my husband is watching.  It's so funny to see him run into the room when the closing credits start and sing along.  :)

As far as big changes go, we're going to be 2 years out of bankruptcy come March and so we will attempt to buy a house.  The good news is, because my husband is a cop we qualify for the Good Neighbor program through HUD and if approved we will be able to buy a house for 50% of the price if we stay for 3 years. yes, 50%.  the housing market is still so depressed here in CA it is possible that we could get a great house with some land for about $200k or less.  here's to hoping!!

also, I think I might give quitting smoking another go.  it scares me shitless for some reason, but I can't keep this up.  I'd like to be around long enough to retire part of the year in Scotland.  of course, I'll actually have to have a job to retire from... but that's just a technicality.

ready, set, GO!

I'm so glad you're out of the crutches!!

I haven't seen Bliss Dance- but we are usually down for the Exploratorium or Cal Academy of Sciences. Message me if you are planning a trip!

Pocket Amazon!  yay!  I'm glad to see you back here.  :)  i see your drive-bys on FB.  Congrats on graduating soon!  That is wonderful.  It's tough to do school with a wee one.  Good job!

Have you and shreddd made it over to see Bliss Dance at Treasure Island yet?  I would love to come down that way and see her.  I think this summer is calling for an adventure to SF for a picnic under the sculpture and the voyage to the Exploratorium.  are you down?  :)

I've been largely absent since the change over... but OS was a sanity saver when the Tinyness (now nearly 5) was a baby. The last couple of years the Tinyness has been in preschool and I've gone back for my bachelors in accounting, I will graduate this summer and Tinyness will start kindergarten in the fall. We also just spent two months in India visiting S's family and hanging out. Cheers!

Hey Everyone- I found this site 4 or so years ago when I was contemplating a divorce. At the time I was a stay at home mom of 3 boys and part time private doula. Those were some really, really dark times. This site was my life line to sanity. Since then, I went through a very painful and awful divorce (Feb. 9 will be my 2nd divorcery day!) I started working as an advocate for a non-profit children’s mental health agency (BA in Social Work and personal experience parenting a child with mental health challenges). I recently re-applied to grad school, I'm hoping to earn an MSW and possibly go for LCSW to do child and family therepy. I have continued my private doula work- baby number 98 arrived last week. I have been in a relationship with my partner for the past 3 years- he is absolutely AWESOME! We met on the kinder yard of the Waldorf School when his oldest and my middle son were starting kinder. He has two children- and boy and a girl.  We recently moved in together and are navigating blending our families. Life is really busy for me now, so unfortunately, I don’t get a chance to come to OS very often. I do try to keep up with everyone via FB.
