In support of the effort to stir things up a bit here on OS, what have y0u seen/heard/read lately that I should check out?
I just watched Catfish, which I thought was pretty good until the last 30 minutes which I thought were awesome. It went in a direction I did not expect. Next on my documentary list is "Dear Zachary".
I'm currently reading the second book in the Hunger Games. Nice, easy, escapist reading.
I'm always woefully behind on new music, so hopefully you all will have some good suggestions.

Oh, and World War Z is another good book (pretend ethnography of those involved in a world wide zombie plague) that they are making into a movie and I am perplexed by.
Permalink Reply by SweetJudyB on January 12, 2012 at 7:15am A quick YA book I just finished, The Giver, was pretty awesome. It fits into that "classic" category, like The Lottery, or A Separate Peace. I did really enjoy the Hunger Game & Dragon Tattoo series, but have been steering away from any other series, I'd rather stick to single novels. I recently read something by Christopher Fowler and thought he was good. Mark Leyner is good for a laugh.
On a Canadian music kick right now- Austra and Young Galaxy, but I have no idea if that suits your taste.
Hangover 2 had some funny moments (thanks to Z.Galafanakis -sp?-), Can't really remember any other movies I've seen recently that aren't rated over PG.

Permalink Reply by Mommy Monster on January 16, 2012 at 5:36am OMG bap, you were right. I loved it and it shattered me completely. I never saw it coming. Totally blindsided.

Re: Dear Zachary-- It was a good documentary. With that being said: NO, NO A MILLION TIMES NO. YOU CANNOT WATCH THIS AS A PARENT A PART OF YOU WILL DIE. YOU CANNOT GET IT BACK.....EVER.
You've been warned.
Permalink Reply by Mommy Monster on January 16, 2012 at 5:37am I also want to add Downton Abbey to this list. I've heard some buzz so checked it out on Netflix. I watched all of season 1 in one weekend.
Permalink Reply by SweetJudyB on January 17, 2012 at 8:06am Will put it on the list, I see it mentioned 2x in this thread! Thanks!!
