Hundreds of Thousands of people gather to see Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin

People must be really pissed off at government if they are willing to gather in huge numbers and listen to these two clowns. I'm not fan of the Democrats in government right now, but really? This is who people are turning to? I tell ya, I'm kinda scared to think about republicans taking over in November.

I understand people want to be critical of government, but come-friggin'-on. It's like the right wing media is just taking every single chance they can to go after the democrats, and then use the excuse that "the liberal media did the same thing to bush". Well, so what? Bush was a moron. Does that mean FOX news has to stoop down to that level.

And what about the troops coming home from Iraq? I thought I read a headline that the last troop brigade has come from Iraq. Is that right? If so, isn't that a really HUGE deal? Didn't Obama SAY he was going to do that?

I don't think that what you're seeing at these rallies are just people dissatisfied with the government. I think there is a lot of suppressed racism coming out in some very strange ways. I don't think the dems are doing a very good job countering them, either.

And one thing to remember about most media sources - they are a for-profit enterprise, and covering the ridiculous antics of people who spout crazy talk sells ad time. It doesn't matter if it's true, it isn't a matter of honor. If there is one thing I agree with my Reaganite, conservative father on, it's the phrase - 'follow the money'.
I agree with MNM. This is about race. This is why people are simultaneously freaking out about illegal immigrants and some people are (seriously) suggesting creating detainment camps for them. This is why people are yammering about "anchor babies" that allow "those people" to try and stay here.
Yep. People who previously might not have revealed their racism (even to themselves) have had their foundations rocked and are now showing their asses. "Cuz it's all fun and games until a minority is President.
At first I was going to disagree with this, but when I thought about it for a second, I think you are right. Once Obama got elected I started hearing a lot of racial jokes about him. Now, I have a pretty thick skin, and don't like to throw the "racist" word around, but when I heard this stuff, I called people out on it. I don't think everybody that was at that rally is a racist, but I have heard, at least on an anecdotal level, a lot more people saying more racist things from people that would normally not say those things.

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell point this guy was trying to make.

Did Africans own slaves? Yes, but they did not own their own. Their slaves were from other tribes. It would be like a Mexican having Canadian slaves. Contrary to popular belief, Africa is a continent not a country.

Most importantly there were millions of slaves in America and like thousands of slaves on the countries listed on his shirt.
Yeah, I guess I should have looked at actual independent sources for a more reasonable number. People who tout their own rallies tend to inflate the numbers in attendance. I'm just stunned that even a crowd of 80,000 people showed up for something like that.

According to a company that specializes in assessing crowd sizes based on aerial photography, there were fewer than 100,000 people there. More like 80,000. Your headline is wrong. The rally didn't live up to its own hype, though Beck is lying and claiming 500,000 attended.
