I am currently hooked on Dr. Horrible.

Recent favourites were also Evil Dead the Musical, while Tommy and Rocky Horror are always on my tolerable list.

What's your favourite musical? Seen anything good lately?

My absolute all time favourite is "Into the Woods" by Sondheim. All fairy tale characters coming together. First act ends happily ever after, 2nd act, not so much. The music is fabulous. We did a revue of Sondheim's music in high school and I got to sing the part of the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wicked is a new favourite. Dr. Horrible was fantastic. And I loved the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I went through an Evita stage.

Basically, I love anything I can sing along with!
All time favorite is West Side Story. I am SUPER excited about seeing it when I'm in NYC next year.

I saw Wicked and Mary Poppins while in NYC last year and they were both excellent.
GirlWho is turning out to be a huge musical fan, so I'm looking for musicals that aren't necessarily for kids but that I won't get a phone call if she quotes/sings from them at school.

If I see Bye Bye Birdie one more time, I may tear out my hair.

We're big Hairspray fans here. It's cute. Substantially different from the film, but really good.

Has anyone else seen Cannibal! The Musical? That was in heavy rotation in my swinging single days because my friends thought it was funny that Packer's horse's name was my name. That name later became Cartman's mom's name, which of course was extra hilarious. Anyway, that's a fun and twisted musical.

Of course, I love Oklahoma. Not really. But it's weird that my state song is a show tune.
I didn't dislike Wicked, but for me I can't get into it afterwards because I don't find it singable... the melodies are too intertwined.

I'm told I would love Jersey Girls.
I secretly love Grease but if you tell anyone I will punch you in the eye. I would like to see Spamalot and Evil Dead the musical.
Not technically a musical, but I dig Glee.
The director is fucked in the head and terribly cruel to women but I do think "Dancer in the Dark" is very good.
Hair!

Also, like most of my family I can sing nearly the entire score from Sweeney Todd.
oh yeah, Sweeney Todd is great hermit!
Young Floor Pie was quite the Broadway geek. I haven't seen one in a long while, but I don't think I could narrow it down to one. Off the top of my head:

- Dreamgirls

- Company (the Raul Esparza version in which all the actors are also the orchestra. Amazing.)

- Assassins

- Gypsy

- My Fair Lady

- Sweet Charity

I could go on...
Haven't seen anything good lately, but Brigadoon is high on my list just for "Come to Me, Bend to Me". I also enjoyed "Hello Dolly", although I wouldn't call it a favorite.
I've played professionally in pit orchestras for a few years (years ago), but we did standards. I love Jesus Christ Superstar, Wizard of Oz, and West Side Story, which I've played three times. Wrangled 8 instruments for that one. If you can find a recording of The Secret Garden with Mandy Patinkin, it's such gorgeous music and singing all around.
