Had my annual Guy Noir (thanks MttM!) appointment about 10 days ago.  She scheduled a subsequent ultrasound (aside:  I'm horrified that anyone was thinking of forcing this on women before an abortion!!!) and her office called me this morning.  They want a second u/s (different time in the cycle) and want to do an endometrial biopsy.

So, first, I've decided not to freak out.  Dr. Google is usually not your friend in these situations.

Second, I'm kind of pissed that the doc didn't call me herself, but had her nurse call me to tell me and schedule the follow ups.  But, I thinking that's probably a good sign that this follow up is based more on SOP than any real concern.

So, anyone  had one?  What should I know?  They told me to take ibuprofin before the procedure, but I can't, so I'll have to make do with tylenol.   Any tips?

I have not had that procedure, though I'm sorry you're going through it.  And yes, the dildo-cam (as I call it) is very invasive.

I've never had it, so no advice there.  But *hugs* hon and good luck.

OMG kommish - it TOTALLY is!! I've had it a number of times... that is the perfect description... and hilarious .

I've had a myriad of girl part tests, biopsies, surgeries, tests, and procedures -- I  had this done (with a cervix-punch biopsy at the same time)... I remember cramping and spotting... and feeling overall like I wanted to just lay down.
Keep us posted. I'm sure it will go fine the day of... just to be on the safe side - cancel your appts after the biopsy and veg out if you can...

Ugh, dildo cam is way too appropriate. Stupid dildo cam. I hated that thing. I hated that they made me get one while I was in pain, high on morphine and freezing to death. Stupid hospital.

I haven't had that procedure, but I'm pretty sure any time doctors mess with your girl parts there will be cramping and bleeding. GG is right - see if you can just relax for the rest of the day. Take some wet wipes and maybe a panty liner or pad with you, just in case.

I haven't had it, but I'm sorry you have to. I generally prefer all medical devices stay far away from that area. While I didn't mind the dildo cam too much, the run in with the sonar thingy they use for the Mirena coil makes me cringe even now.

I had several done, I had multiple miscarriages and they were trying to figure out what was going on. They basically slide a pipette through your cervix and then take some sampling. Your cervix is not happy about being poked at like that and opened even a tiny bit to let even this tiny little pipette in, so that's where the pain comes from. But it is fairly quick (once they were in, it wasn't a big deal). Also, for me, it was pre-children so I'm not sure I knew where my cervix was at that point. I think know that I've been through labor, the pain wouldn't be so surprising or even feel that bad.

Take the motrin before defintiely

Don't make the same mistake I did and let an intern do the procedure. I'm all for learning hospitals, but when they are poking something through your cervix, you want someone who has developed good aim and swift hands :)
