Would any of you fine folks be interested in a gift exchange sort of thing? Maybe I'm lame, but I like making/buying stuff for people who aren't whining and clinging to my legs at the time, and my kid gets more mail than I do thanks to the Imagination Library. So yes, I'm jealous of my preschooler.
If that would be a Thing That Doesn't Suck, I'd volunteer to collect addresses and randomly assign recipients. Alternatively, I can send out my address and you can all mail rotten tomatoes to me. Hey, at least it's not another Atlantic Broadband advertisement for services not available here.

Sure, as long as you'll take payment in fresh hot meals. I don't have time to make anything else.
Permalink Reply by rommie on June 7, 2012 at 2:46pm I love the idea, but I'm too flaky these days to actually follow through.
Permalink Reply by mightyninjamom on June 8, 2012 at 11:25am I'm in! But JM...I can't mail you the Little Miss. Sorry!

Permalink Reply by Zealflyer on June 9, 2012 at 6:34am This sounds awesome! Though I admit that I am one of those people with more ambitions than output these days. (Case in point: I am going to a baby shower tomorrow and need to make the gift tonight. Yikes!) Also, what is the Imagination Library? My curiosity is piqued.

FedEx would probably keep the box in an air-conditioned truck...

Permalink Reply by mcglory13 on June 9, 2012 at 8:29pm I'm in, but people who are my Facebook friends may have the ugly sconce and/or chandelier I'm mailing out spoiled for them.
I kid.
Do I?
Also: when I worked at the campus post office I learned you cannot mail entire human bodies. And I cannot recommend dismembering Little Miss. That would mar her general beauty.
Permalink Reply by rommie on June 13, 2012 at 9:07am Zeal, the Imagination Library sends preschool kids a free book every month. It's a pretty cool program--some of the Moose's favorite books have come from them. The website is here.
For those who are in, please PM me your mailing address. I'll leave this open for another week, then stick the names in a randomizer and assign victims...er, recipients.
It looks like so far we have Joe Mama, MNM, hotmama, Zealflyer, mcglory, bap, and me. Furthermore, I'm still not sure if I'm supposed to capitalize screen names or not. Grammar police, don't tase me, bro.
For rules (because what's life without more rules?), how about this: Make/buy something for your special snowflake. Unless you want a $10 minimum or something, I'm just going to leave it open, since you're all parents and can probably make something from nothing if it came to it. Stick your boxes/envelopes/children in the mail by July 16, which actually means we might have them in the mail by the 18th, which means that people should start getting mail by the 25th. Wear your nicest Santa hat, the one without the baby puke, give it a good shake, and open up. (Just not like that.)
Fair?
