People, I need to get rid of my iphone. The cost of the service (which I barely use) is RIDICULOUS. I get horrible coverage at my house anyway, so I never really use it to talk to anyone. I do text some, but not that much. I literally use maybe ten minutes of talk time a month. I tend to use the phone more like mobile internet than anything.

I love the iphone, and how easy it is to use, but honestly, if I can find a cheaper plan I'd be happier not paying nearly $70 a month for something I barely use. And quite frankly, with the cost of our internet connection, AT&T is getting enough of my money.

Suggestions?

Are you thinking of jailbreaking the iphone and taking it elsewhere?

Thanks you guys. It's helpful to get all this info - I don't pay much attention to stuff like this because normally AlphaGeek takes care of it, but he's been pretty busy lately.
I have had unimaginably excellent customer service with sprint. 10 years and counting. Good coverage and competitive prices.

One time, I overpaid them through my bank's billpay--literally sent them my mortgage payment. Within 30 minutes of the payment posting, they called to alert me of the error, and fedexed me a refund check the next day. I will never, ever, ever, ever stray from my peeps at sprint.
It seems everyone is pretty happy with what they have, which I guess is a good thing.

Look around on each carrier's website and see what kind online deals you can get. It may just come down to the best deal for whatever options suit your needs, as well as whatever kind of phone you want. The amount of smart phones out there seems kind of overwhelming these days, so just like Indiana Jones...choose wisely.

I will say this about jailbreaking an iPhone. I know people that have done it, but if you do....DO NOT update the OS on it, or you're phone will not work. It's not illegal to do, but with something that expensive, I wouldn't want to do it, and I'm pretty tech savvy.
Yeah, Kiwi emailed me some good info, and since she lives fairly close to me, she has a good idea of what coverage works. I wouldn't try to do anything with my phone - I am NOT tech savvy in the least, although I can pass for first tier help desk if necessary! AlphaGeek could probably handle it, but since I'm already running a computer that only he can fix, (linux, natch) I'd really rather not go that way with the phone.

Nice. It's good to know someone who lives close to you to gauge coverage. I can say I have great coverage with T-Mobile, but that could be the exact opposite for where you live.
