Raidne has never had a cavity but her teeth do look like she's a 50 year red wine and coffee drinker.  I mean, they are seriously brown.  The dentist will get them clean but soon they are back to awful again.

But, my question is this:  have you even seen a kid whose teeth break apart before falling out?  She's had this happen several times with her side teeth (not the front ones) and has another one now. The "cap" of the tooth is about to fall out, but the root appears to be still in place.  It's really freaking me out.

We did take her to the denstist for one like this a few months ago and they didn't seem concerned.  Said if it didn't fall out to bring her back, and of course it finally did.  But is this normal?  I don't remember any of my teeth coming out in pieces like this.

Ooh, mine did! I was eating a pork chop and it just cracked. Went to the dentist the next morning and they wiggled out the other half. It took a few weeks for the adult one to get into place. Are the new ones coming in? I think I remember the dentist telling my mom that the tooth basically "died" since the adult one was coming.
I've not heard of that, but if the dentist doesn't seem concerned I wouldn't worry too much. You could always get a second opinion if you are skeptical. The baby teeth are mainly placeholders for the adult versions, anyway.

If the color is an issue, you might think about a toothpaste to protect the enamel. There's a sensodyne enamel protection toothpaste for kids.
Would the other medications that she's on cause the discolouration or weakening of the teeth?
Can she get that sealant stuff on her teeth?
Well, the good news is that it came out yesterday. Yay for the tooth fairy.
She's, thankfully, not on any meds at this point. (knocks wood and crosses fingers)

(knocking and crossing and doing several versions of the funky chicken) I'm glad to hear that too! Glad the tooth came out okay as well - as with all things, normal is a huge range!
