My disdain for Michael Bay is well known throughout the interwebs. I find his disregard for coherent storytelling insulting, his constantly moving camera and super-quick edits disorienting, and his attempts at humor cheesy.
These days it seems that he's pretty much becoming a parody of himself.
Take, for instance his latest endeavor, a commercial for Victoria's Secret:
Does it contain the usual Bay-isms? Let's see...
Lots of vehicles? Check. Loud rock music? Check. Helicopter? Check. Quick dizzying cuts? Check. Explosion? You bet. Leering shots at scantily clad women? Well, it is for Victoria's Secret so I guess that one kind of gets a pass.
While some filmmakers grow and challenge themselves to push the boundaries of their art, it's interesting to watch a director pull the same tricks out of the same bag every time he gets behind the camera.
If you liked what you saw, mark your calendars for the summer of 2011 when Transformers 3 comes out.
